Organizational Records

Two people sifting dirt at an archeological site.

The University of Texas at Arlington Special Collections is the repository for physical records related to the North Texas Archeological Society. Records are open to the public for research in person at the UTA campus, Central Library, 6th floor. An appointment is not required, but it is recommended so that staff can pull materials in preparation for your visit.

Most of this collection has been digitized and is available online through the MavMatrix repository.

The MavMatrix also includes an inventory of the UTA Anthropology Lab collection which includes archaeological artifacts donated by NTAS members. Researchers who would like access to artifacts housed in the UTA Anthropology Lab collection should reach out to the Department of Sociology and Anthropology.

Archival materials housed at the UTA Special Collections include meeting minutes, letters, publications, guidebooks, forms, pictures, maps, banners, posters, newsletters, and some audiovisual items. The collection also includes advertising and correspondence for events, including the annual field school, reports on work done at various sites, and publications made by different members of NTAS and pre-cursor organizations.

Members of the public who wish to visit UTA Special Collections in-person should bring their driver's license or photo ID to register as a guest upon entry to the library. While access to the library and special collections is free, visitors must pay for parking at the UTA campus. A parking garage is available directly behind the library.

Please contact UTA Special Collections staff for assistance accessing the archival collection.
