The fund was established in 2014 to award scholarships while honoring NTAS members who have passed away. This scholarship program is supported entirely through donations. Scholarships are extended to individuals meeting the eligibility requirements, within the limits of donated funds and under advisement of the Scholarship Committee.

An applicant for a NTAS Scholarship may apply for the following:

  • TAS Field School
  • TAS Annual Meeting
  • Needs based Travel to or Support for an NTAS sponsored or participatory event
  • Support for an accredited field school within the United States, priority given, but not limited, to Texas-based students

Scholarship recipients will receive:

  • Membership to North Texas Archeological Society, if not already a member
  • Membership to Texas Archeological Society (TAS), if not already a member, if applying to attend a TAS sponsored event (Academy, Field School, or Annual Meeting)
  • Registration fee (includes breakfast, dinner, and t-shirt for those applying to TAS Field School) for TAS sponsored events.

For more information concerning TAS, go to the Texas Archeological Society website.

Funds for needs based travel or support for an accredited field school will be assessed by the Scholarship Committee on a case-by-case basis.
